The 13 Minutes Mission

Pushing Back the Clock

Every 13 minutes, a man chooses to die by suicide. Eighty percent of all suicides are men — a silent epidemic no one wants to name.

Our mission is to push back that clock by one minute.

2,888
men come home each year if we push the clock from 13 minutes to 14.
One Man. One Minute. One Choice.

Suicide is a choice. So is living.

We help men choose life.

Why Every Man Needs a Why

The story behind the mission — and the choice every man still gets to make.

How We Do It

We fulfill the mission through three pathways — each one built to reach a man before the silence does: breaking the silence, helping him find his why, and putting him in a room with other men who hold him to it.

1
Advocacy & Awareness
Our charge is to shatter the silence around male suicide. Eighty percent of suicides are men, who take their lives at rates four to seventeen times that of women. We give voice to what no one will name — through the 13 Minutes — Why Every Man Needs a Why podcast, the 13 Minutes blog, the keynote talk, organizational education, and The Guy in the Glass: Six Questions to See the Man You Were Meant to Be, the book Baruch would have put in his father's hands thirteen years before he lost him.

Meaning Mentoring
A man does not need another life coach. He needs to find his why. Meaning Mentoring is 1:1 work grounded in the logotherapy of Dr. Viktor Frankl — the psychiatrist who survived the camps and gave us Man's Search for Meaning. His insight, that the last human freedom is to choose one's response, is needed now more than ever in an age of rising despair. Dr. Baruch HaLevi and Dr. Daniel Franz, both trained logotherapists, are scaling that work to the world: 1:1 mentoring, and the curriculum to train other men to carry it into their own communities.

Men's Peer Groups
There is no better structure for accountability, authenticity, and brotherhood than a peer group of men who show up for each other. Structured, confidential, peer-led circles where men build connection and get held to the work. Our philanthropic commitment is to fund this for the men most often underserved — veterans, men in prison, men in addiction and recovery, and men facing financial hardship. No man turned away because he cannot pay.

Our Promise
Every 13 minutes, a man dies by suicide. We will push the clock back by one minute—and keep pushing, one man at a time, until the silence breaks.
